Here are some shots of the ground beetle that Travis's mom, Patsy, found. I was under a potted plant in their yard. Travis and I looked for more but haven't found any yet.
Have not found the species yet.

Yeah, this is definitely the one I've seen before. I know for sure I've collected one at the Zoo of Acadiana and seen a couple in the Atchafalaya Basin...in Butte La Rose.
